How to make a classic manicure?
Classic manicure – preparation
To make a classic manicure, we will need:
- nail polish remover,
- paper nail file,
- glass or ceramic nail file,
- nail polisher,
- cuticle softener (optional),
- orange wood stick,
- sharp nail nipper,
- cuticle oil,
- base coat,
- nail polish,
- top coat,
- nail dryer (optional),
- favourite hand cream.
Step one – remove the old nail polish
First of all, precisely remove the old layer of nail polish. Use a nail polish remover without acetone, which is more gentle to the nail plate. You can also use the nail buffer to polish the old layer.
Step two – file the nails
If you want to shorten the nail plate, do it with a paper file. File the sides of the nail as well to optically extend the nail plate. Then use the glass or ceramic file to smooth it. After that, you can use a nail polisher.
Step three – cut the cuticles
It’s time to prepare our cuticles. Oil your nails with a cuticle softener or put your hands in lukewarm water with the addition of oil. Then, push them back gently with the orange stick and remove that excess cuticle skin with the use of the nail nipper. Be careful not to cut it too deep as it may damage the skin or nail matrix. Having done it, moisturise your nails with oil.
Step four – apply the nail polish
Before we paint the nails, we must carefully degrease the nail plate with a cleanser or nail polish remover. Apply the nail base, then the first and second coat of the chosen nail polish. You might leave about 3-4 mm space from each side of the nails uncovered – it gives an illusion of slimmer nails. In order to protect the nail from scratches, apply the top coat. Your manicure is ready!
